About

When Is Tooth Extraction Necessary?

Partial damage to the dentition caused by certain diseases can be corrected with fillings or treatment of interproximal caries. However, if the disease is extensive, only tooth extraction will help. Other reasons for extraction include the following:

  • existing incisors (for example, baby teeth) block the growth paths of new ones;
  • installation of braces (extraction helps in forming the correct bite);
  • the need for radiation therapy;
  • taking certain medications (may cause infection in a specific area of the dentition).

At our Rocca Dent dental clinic, true professionals of their field work to ensure that tooth extraction is carried out quickly and painlessly. We also perform wisdom tooth extraction (often a complex procedure requiring surgical intervention). You will definitely appreciate the service and the announced prices.

Main Stages of Tooth Extraction

The process itself takes place in several stages. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

Consultation

A complete diagnosis is performed using computed tomography. This allows the dentist to assess the condition of the dentition and create an individual treatment plan for each patient. The cost of tooth extraction depends on several factors: complexity, type, and the anesthesia used.

Anesthesia

Various options are offered, including tooth extraction under sedation. This type of anesthesia is particularly suitable for our most restless patients (children).

Extraction

In a simple case, a special instrument is applied, and the tooth is removed from the socket. If the situation is complex, the dentist makes an incision in the gum to gain proper access to the root, after which the extraction is performed.

Treatment and Suturing

This is done when necessary, for example, after surgical intervention. Sutures help reduce the size of the wound, stop bleeding, and protect against infection entering inside. They also speed up the healing process. In no case should you touch them with your hands or tongue. We have already discussed the recommendations that should be followed after extraction of an incisor. You can also order dental implants from us.

FAQ

Initial healing takes 7 to 10 days. Complete tissue healing takes a little longer – 3 to 6 months.

It is advisable not to drink alcohol for two days after the procedure (48 hours). It can slow down healing and cause bleeding.

We recommend undergoing the procedure during the second trimester. Try to avoid removal closer to childbirth and during the first trimester. Our doctors select the most gentle anesthesia, agreed upon with your gynecologist.

When anesthesia is used, the procedure is painless. You may feel pressure during the procedure. After removal, the socket may cause discomfort and pain, but this can be remedied with painkillers.
